i love wooden hand planes! this is the second one i've made. i'm surprised at just how finicky they can be. maybe thats what i like about them. they force me into conversation. its not just go go go. with them its stop and listen. listen to the plane, listen to the wood. you really have to pay attention and learn how to interpret the problems you encounter along the way. i remember being so frustrated when i first tried this plane. it just wasn't working as i knew it should and i almost gave up. almost, but not quite. i still have some fine tuning to do but now its producing beautiful shavings. i can't imagine working wood without wooden planes.

You need to explain what kind f wood you're using.
the plane is made out of cocobolo, a tropical hardwood. the piece i'm planing in the picture, the light piece, is maple.
Klynt is a little envious and wishes he could have a workshop of his own here in China. He is itching to put the plane you gave him to good use.
Can i just say that i don't wish to see another "plane" for awhile! Give me at least a month. Maybe we aren't talking about the same things.
remember when we all used to comment on kaleb's blog more than he posted? do you guys still do that and we just haven't been paying attention?
love the work kaleb. I think you would like some of the furniture they build here...
